1. What is Afroko?

Afroko is the UK’s online directory for discovering Afro-Caribbean shops, restaurants, services, events and cultural businesses. Our platform helps people find local African and Caribbean businesses quickly and easily.

2. Is Afroko free to use?

Yes. Afroko is completely free for users who are searching for shops, restaurants or services.
Business owners can also create basic listings for free.

3. How do I find businesses near me?

Use the search bar on our homepage to search by:
• Category
• Location
• Business name
• Keywords (e.g., “African food Manchester”, “Caribbean restaurant London”)

You can also browse by category or region.

4. How do I create a business listing?

Click the “List Your Business” button and complete the form.
Provide:
• Business name
• Category
• Address
• Photos
• Opening hours
• Contact details
• Description

Once submitted, our team will review and publish your listing.

5. How long does it take for my listing to be approved?

Most listings are reviewed within 24–48 hours.
We may contact you if we need additional information before approval.

6. Can I claim an existing listing on Afroko?


Yes. Afroko has added a number of Afro-Caribbean businesses to help users discover them more easily.
If your business is already listed, simply open the listing and click “Claim Listing” to take ownership.
Once approved, you can edit your details, upload photos, update hours, and fully manage your business page.

7. Can I edit my listing after it’s published?

Yes. Log into your vendor dashboard and update:
• Photos
• Opening hours
• Address
• Services
• Description
• Contact details

Changes usually go live instantly unless they require manual review.

8. Do I need to own a business to create a listing?

You must be:
• The business owner,
• An authorised representative, or
• Someone with written permission to list the business.

This ensures all listings are accurate and trustworthy.

9. Can I list more than one business?

Yes. You can manage multiple listings from your vendor dashboard.

10. Does Afroko take bookings or payments?

No. Afroko is:
• Not a booking platform
• Not a delivery service
• Not an ordering system

We are a directory.
Customers contact businesses directly through phone, WhatsApp, email or website links.

11. How do customers contact a business?

Each listing includes:
• Phone number
• WhatsApp (if provided)
• Email address
• Social media pages
• Google Maps directions

Customers can contact you directly.

12. What kind of businesses can be listed on Afroko?

Any business that serves the African or Caribbean community, including:
• Grocery shops
• Restaurants & takeaways
• Hair and beauty salons
• Barbers
• Fashion designers
• Tailors
• Shipping and cargo services
• Money transfer shops
• DJs and event services
• Cultural events
• Artists and handmade creators

If your business is Afro-Caribbean focused, Afroko welcomes you.

13. Are there any businesses that cannot be listed?

Yes. We do not allow:
• Illegal services
• Adult or explicit content
• Hazardous or restricted products
• Fake or counterfeit goods
• Unlicensed professional services
• Gambling or betting services

14. Why was my listing not approved?

Common reasons include:
• Missing or incorrect information
• Poor-quality or copyrighted photos
• Business does not fit Afroko’s categories
• Violations of listing rules
• Suspicious or duplicate listings

You will receive an email if we need additional information.

15. How do I delete my listing?

Log in to your dashboard and select Delete Listing, or email us at info@afroko.co.uk.

16. Can I report a business or incorrect information?

Yes. If you see a mistake or a suspicious listing, email us at info@afroko.co.uk with the business name and the issue.

17. Does Afroko operate outside the UK?

Currently, Afroko focuses on Afro-Caribbean businesses across the UK.
We plan to expand to other countries in the future.
